Hyde Park Venture Partners is an early-stage venture investing firm focused on high-growth technology startups in the mid-continent. With an extensive on-the-ground network and activity throughout the region, we invest in seed and early Series A software startups across B2B, marketplace, and consumer service business models.

Among others, our portfolio includes top mid-continent startups FourKites, G2, ShipBob, and Terminus.

We are seeking an experienced marketing professional for our Director of Marketing role who will lead our brand and platform function.

About the Position:

Hyde Park Ventures is looking for a passionate, outgoing, and talented individual embedded within the local Chicago entrepreneurial community. This role will facilitate information sharing between Hyde Park Ventures portfolio companies, spearhead community-building & outreach efforts, and help promote our firm.

As the Director of Marketing, you will be responsible for building the brand of our fund across all of our markets. You will also be catalyzing meaningful relationships across our portfolio companies, creating and curating helpful resources for our founding teams, and leading our communications and events.

This position offers exposure to some of the smartest and most accomplished entrepreneurs and startups across the nation in a fast-paced environment with the freedom to create meaningful impact at the leading venture capital firm in the mid-continent.

Responsibilities:

Marketing & Brand Building

• Execute effective content strategy and broader targeted outreach (including writing and managing multiple social media presences).
• Lead new project initiatives based on top-level firm goals set priorities and manage towards operational completion.
• Create and own our strategic content strategy to deliver helpful resources to entrepreneurs — through written, recorded, and live content
• Develop content to capture and communicate portfolio and founder successes stories
• Drive the content strategy and calendar for the Hyde Park Venture Partners team
• Distribute newsletter and communications, including investor communications

Network & Platform

• Plan and produce small and large-scale events (virtual and in-person) to optimize talent and entrepreneur networks across key Mid-continent markets
• Create and cultivate an active and lively community of our portfolio companies
• Manage firm onboarding process for new investments; assist portfolio marketing teams where appropriate
• Leverage existing systems and CRM to automate contact management processes

Requirements:

• Past experience working within technology companies, startups, and the larger startup community
• A “digital native” with a strong interest in new technology. Possesses hands-on proficiency with many online tools for managing social media interactions, event production, and project management
• Demonstrated strength in content marketing, event marketing, branding, marketing analytics, and design
• Strong ability to problem solve, demonstrate creativity, and lead key initiatives independently
• Past success in independent, unstructured environments, serving as a point person for a variety of key initiatives for a team
• Passion for technology and entrepreneurs, and interest in supporting the broader technology ecosystem
• High degree of trust, and capability to build trust with internal and external team members of the Hyde Park Venture Partners network
